2nd Day Hair Never Looked So Good!

Okay, so I've been promising myself that I was going to start making my styles last as long as possible. This requires more maintenance, but I feel its worth it. So I've been retwisting my twist outs and rebraiding my braid outs at night, and the results have been so good so far. But BABBBYYY.. let me tell you! I retwisted my hair last night and took them down this morning and my hair looked better today than it did yesterday! I was SO impressed. My fro was so divalicious today and I was feeling myself, so of course I took a few pictures! lol But no, for once I actually had somewhere to go, so me getting dolled up wasn't in vain.... THIS TIME lol

Enjoy the pics!

Chunky Twist Out

Whenever I want a twist out, I generally do smaller twists. But recently, I've been feeling a tad bit adventurous so I went for the chunky twist out. I started with freshly washed hair.

Products Used:
Olive Oil
Cantu Shea Butter Leave In
My Shea Butter Concoction
Eco Styler Gel (Argan Oil)

I ended up putting about 8-9 large twists in my hair....

I slept in my Satin Bonnet

Then separated and fluffed out the twists

Then I tried two different styles...
This first one is a low puff with a bang

Then I tried just a fro type situation..

Look at the curl definition!

I say that my first attempt at a chunky twist out was a success! However, I don't feel like being bothered with my hair right now, so I think I am just going to put some gel around the perimeter of my hair and throw it in a simple puff! =) Oh, & before I forget DON'T TALK ABOUT ME! lol... I was in the middle of doing my makeup, so my face is unfinished lol

Anyway, until next time....LOVE YOUR CURLS!

Products I'm loving Right Now!!

Okay, so I love trying out different Shampoos and Conditioners. Cheap or expensive, I just love it! Buttttt right now, I'm a little financially challenged lol SO! I went to my local Dollar Tree and picked up these for $1 a piece.

Uh ohhh!!! I'm running out! I figured this would happen so...

I BOUGHT TWO! ;) #LOVEIT... for now lol

Okay, my next favorite product is a MUST! ALWAYS! For any style.. can you guess what it is??

OLIVE OIL!!! Love it! Plain and simple! What else is there to say? Great way to seal in moisture!

Next is my very own, smooth and creamy Shea Butter Concoction! lol I LOVE it!! It's nice and airy thanks to my right arm! I whipped it by hand and it came out great!

 And Lastly....

My Eco Styler Gel! I loved it with the Olive Oil and I'm loving it with this Argan Oil! The scent is much lighter than the Olive Oil kind. It works just as well though. Still a hold of 10, according to the jar. This stuff is wonderful =)

Well, that's all for now. But knowing me,  I'm sure I'll have a whole new set of "Products  I'm Loving" in a few weeks. Stay Tuned

FAB FIND! #1

It looks like a Denman... buttttt

IT'S NOT!! I got this "Gabriella" brand brush from my local beauty supply store for $1.99!!! I LOVE this brush! It smooths and defines my curls like NO OTHER! It makes a huge difference in any style I try. This right here is a MUST HAVE and is now added to my list of staple tools for natural hair. If you can't afford a Denman, I say this would be a great alternative.

As far as quality goes, of course its not AS durable  as a Denman and I'm not quite sure how long it will last, but I say you can't go wrong. Its not flimsy or anything, but I definitely see where the quality could be better.

Ooops! I almost forgot to show you how easy it is to clean! =)

I know your thinking.. "It's broken!!", Like I did when I first saw this! lol It happened while I was doing my hair. I was really upset, thinking I'd broken the cheap thing. But after taking a closer look....

I realized I didn't break it. It was made that way. So to clean this brush after each use, I just soak it in a bowl of warm water, to loose it of oils, dead hair and dirt (if any). Then I lay it face down on a towel and let it dry, & finally, put it back on the handle! =) I love this brush! =)

My Biggest Regret in This Journey

I love to look at people Natural Hair Stories! They're always so fun and inspiring. Many have different reasons for going natural and that's even more interesting. My biggest regret is not documenting the first few months of my journey. I was very self conscious about my short, curl fro. So the day after I cut it, I put a half wig on it. Since I transitioned for a few months, I was able to braid it up and install a sew in after THAT. THEN, once the new year started, I went and got zillions (Micro Braids). I kept those in for about three months. Altogether, I missed the first 5 months of my natural hair journey. I wore my fro for the first time on my 20th birthday. But I stayed in the house the whole time. My friends came over, some excited to see my flaunting it, other not so encouraging. I wore it that entire week, before making a quick weave cap. I wore that weave for about a week when I decided enough was enough. I started wearing my hair out in public and even taking a few pictures. My earliest picture is from my 20th Birthday. In reality, that was a year of growth, since I started transitioning the day of my 19th birthday. My advice to the newly naturals that may have some of those feelings I did, FLAUNT IT! Be confident in your TWA, its only teeny weeny for a moment. Before you know it, it'll be big and juicy! lol Take lost of pictures and document your growth... you won't regret it! ;)

Then..... (May 3, 2010)

NOW!.... (August 12, 2011)

LOVE YOUR CURLS! =)

1 Braidout....5 Styles

Okay, so this was my second time attempting a braidout on my hair. The first time was a oily, frizzy MESS! So I took my time, did larger sections and a masterpiece was created! I am SO glad I gave this another try. I was able to get 5 days out of this braidout, which for me, is a record! Really??? 5 day hair??? YASSSS! lol I WILL be doing this again.

I had a total of 12 braids, and I rolled the very ends with rods.  Below I will list the products I used and also a few pictures =) Enjoy, any questions, please feel free to ask!

Products/tools:
~My own Shea Butter Concoction lol (unrefined Shea Butter and a variety of oils, whipped together)--- My hair lovesss this stuff!
~Eco Styler Gel (Argan Oil kind)
~Water!
~A Rake Comb (to help detangle)
~A Brush (Mine is a faux Denman. It works wonders! I got it for $1.99 @ my local beauty supply)
~Cold Water Rods (I used the small coral/pink ones. I used these on the end of my braids)

After taking the braids down...

Above is day 3. This is a side puff with a flat twist in the front.

Above is day 4. I simply pinned the right side of my hair up with a few bobby pins.

And finally, day 5! Curly Fro anyone?? I loved it!

How I maintained this style:
EASY! I simply RE-BRAIDED the braids at night. I know, I know.. who has time for that? Well my dear, if you want to maximize longevity with this style... YOU DO lol. I also reapplied the products every night, but in wayyy smaller quantities. I just spritzed the section I was braiding with water and applied a little more gel and my Shea Butter mixture then, re-braided and rodded. It was definitely time well spent ladies. ALSO, I grabbed larger sections. The first night I had 12 braids, and every night after, I had about 6-7. I don't know why this helped, but it did.

I'd love to see pictures of your braidout! =) Email them me @ Beautifullymade90@yahoo.com to be featured on my blog. Please, no spam... thanks in advance!
